Warm, crispy apple fries coated in cinnamon sugar make for a quick, cozy fall treat that’s healthier and easy to prepare.

Ingredients

Scale
  • Firm apples (Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or Fuji)
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
  • Cooking spray
  • Caramel sauce (optional, for serving)
  • Whipped cream (optional, for serving)

Instructions

  1. Wash, core, and slice the apples into thin wedges. Peel if desired.
  2. In one bowl, whisk the eggs. In another bowl, mix the flour, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg (if using), and breadcrumbs.
  3. Dip each apple slice into the egg mixture, ensuring it’s fully coated. Then roll it in the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to help the coating stick.
  4. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for about 3 minutes.
  5. Place the coated apple slices in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Lightly spray with cooking spray. Air fry for 8–10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crispy.
  6. Let the apple fries cool for a minute before serving. Serve warm with caramel sauce, whipped cream, or your favorite dip.

Notes

For best results, use firm apples like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp. Avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket to ensure even crisping. Experiment with spices like ground cloves or ginger for a unique twist.
