These bacon-wrapped jalapeño cream cheese poppers combine smoky bacon, spicy jalapeños, and creamy cheese for a quick and addictive party appetizer.

  • 12 medium fresh jalapeños, washed and halved lengthwise
  • 8 ounces (225 grams) cream cheese, softened to room temperature
  • 1 cup (100 grams) shredded cheddar cheese
  • 12 strips bacon, thin or regular cut
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: pinch of smoked paprika
  • Optional: dash of hot sauce mixed into cream cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil.
  2. Slice each jalapeño in half lengthwise and scoop out all seeds and membranes. Rinse and pat dry.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Stir until smooth. Add smoked paprika or hot sauce if desired.
  4. Stuff each jalapeño half with the cream cheese mixture using a spoon or spatula. Avoid overfilling.
  5. Wrap each stuffed jalapeño half with a bacon strip, cutting bacon in half if needed. Secure with toothpicks if necessary. Place poppers on the baking sheet with the bacon seam underneath.
  6. Bake for 20-25 minutes, turning poppers halfway through for even crispness. Bacon should be golden and crisp, jalapeños slightly softened.
  7. Remove from oven and let cool for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

Use room temperature cream cheese for easy mixing. Deseed jalapeños to reduce heat. Wrap bacon tightly and secure with toothpicks to prevent unraveling. Turn poppers halfway through baking for even crispness. Tent with foil if bacon browns too quickly. Use gloves when handling jalapeños to avoid irritation. Let poppers cool before serving to avoid hot filling spills.
