Blueberry swirl yogurt bites are a quick, healthy, and kid-friendly frozen snack featuring creamy Greek yogurt and a homemade blueberry sauce. They’re easy to make, customizable, and perfect for after-school treats, lunchboxes, or a light dessert.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (150g) fresh or frozen blueberries
  • 1 tablespoon pure maple syrup or honey
  • 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice (optional but recommended)
  • 2 cups (500g) plain Greek yogurt (full-fat, low-fat, or non-dairy)
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup or honey (adjust to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract (optional)
  • Granola (optional, for topping)
  • Chopped nuts (almonds, pistachios, or pecans; optional, for topping)
  • Extra blueberries (optional, for topping)
  • Mini chocolate chips (optional, for topping)
  • Unsweetened coconut flakes (optional, for topping)

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, combine blueberries, 1 tablespoon maple syrup or honey, and lemon juice.
  2. Heat over medium-low, stirring occasionally, for 4-6 minutes until berries burst and sauce thickens. Mash lightly for a chunky sauce or blend for smoothness. Let cool to room temperature.
  3. In a medium bowl, mix Greek yogurt with 2 tablespoons maple syrup or honey and vanilla extract. Stir until smooth and adjust sweetness if needed.
  4. Line a 12-cup standard muffin tin with parchment or silicone liners. If using paper, spray lightly with oil.
  5. Spoon about 2 tablespoons of yogurt mixture into each muffin cup. Tap tray to even out tops.
  6. Add 1-2 teaspoons of cooled blueberry swirl on top of each cup.
  7. Use a toothpick or skewer to gently swirl the blueberry sauce into the yogurt. Do not overmix.
  8. Sprinkle optional toppings (granola, nuts, coconut, etc.) on top and press lightly.
  9. Freeze muffin tin for at least 2-3 hours, or until yogurt bites are fully set.
  10. Once frozen, carefully remove yogurt bites from the tin. Let sit at room temperature for 2-3 minutes if needed.
  11. Transfer bites to an airtight freezer-safe container, layering with parchment to prevent sticking. Store in freezer.

Notes

Let the blueberry sauce cool completely before swirling into yogurt to prevent melting. Use thick yogurt for the creamiest texture. Customize with your favorite toppings or swap in other berries. For dairy-free, use coconut or almond yogurt. Always use liners for easy removal.
