These cheesy cream cheese sausage balls are a quick and easy party appetizer or hearty breakfast bite, combining sharp cheddar, creamy cheese, and savory sausage for a moist, tender texture.

  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened to room temperature
  • 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 ½ cups Bisquick baking mix
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce (optional)
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • Black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone liner.
  2. Soften the cream cheese by letting it sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine ground sausage, softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, Bisquick baking mix, onion powder, garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper.
  4. Mix thoroughly using your hands or a sturdy spoon until fully blended and sticky but firm enough to hold shape. Add more Bisquick if mixture is too wet.
  5. Scoop out about 1.5 tablespoons of mixture and roll into balls. Place evenly spaced on the prepared baking sheet, making about 30-35 sausage balls.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes until golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature 160°F or 71°C).
  7. Let the sausage balls rest on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

Use room temperature cream cheese for smooth mixing. Avoid overmixing to prevent tough texture. If hands get sticky, dip in cold water or lightly oil palms. Tent with foil if browning too quickly. Can be prepped ahead and refrigerated overnight. For gluten-free, substitute Bisquick with gluten-free baking mix or almond flour. Can be air-fried at 350°F for 15 minutes, turning halfway.
