A creamy, smoky, and cheesy dip inspired by the classic Kentucky Hot Brown sandwich, perfect for Derby watch parties and casual gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups cooked turkey, shredded or chopped
  • 6 slices bacon, cooked crisp and crumbled
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 medium fresh tomato, diced
  • 2 green onions, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup French bread crumbs or panko
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cook and crumble the bacon until crisp, then drain excess grease on paper towels.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, mayonnaise, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper. Blend until smooth and creamy, about 2-3 minutes.
  4. Fold in the shredded turkey, half of the crumbled bacon, shredded cheddar cheese, diced tomato, and sliced green onions. Mix gently until evenly distributed.
  5. Transfer the mixture to an 8×8-inch baking dish and smooth out the top.
  6. Mix the bread crumbs with melted butter and sprinkle evenly over the top of the dip.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the dip is bubbly and the topping is golden brown.
  8. Remove from the oven and let cool for 5 minutes to thicken slightly.
  9. Serve warm with toasted baguette slices, crackers, or fresh vegetable sticks.

Notes

Use room temperature cream cheese to avoid lumps. For gluten-free, substitute bread crumbs with gluten-free variety. Greek yogurt can replace mayonnaise for a lighter dip. Watch bread crumbs near end of baking to prevent burning. Can be made ahead and baked before serving.
