  • 3 cups cooked chicken, shredded
  • 12 sheets lasagna noodles, cooked according to package instructions
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3 cups milk, whole or 2%, warmed
  • 1 cup Parmesan cheese, shredded
  • 2 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Fresh parsley, optional, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with olive oil and set aside.
  2. Cook the lasagna noodles according to the package instructions. Once cooked, drain and lay them flat on a clean surface to prevent sticking.
  3. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute.
  4. Gradually whisk in the flour until it forms a paste. Cook for 1-2 minutes to remove the raw flour taste.
  5. Slowly pour in the warmed milk, whisking constantly to prevent lumps. Cook until the sauce thickens, about 5-7 minutes.
  6. Stir in the Parmesan cheese, oregano, salt, and pepper. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed. Remove from heat and set aside.
  7. In a mixing bowl, combine the shredded chicken and 1 cup of the prepared white sauce.
  8. Spread a thin layer of white sauce on the bottom of your prepared baking dish.
  9. Place a layer of lasagna noodles over the sauce, followed by a layer of the chicken mixture. Add dollops of ricotta cheese and spread evenly. Repeat the layers until you’ve used up all the ingredients, finishing with a layer of white sauce on top.
  10. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese generously over the final layer.
  11. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  12. Let the lasagna rest for 10 minutes to set before slicing and serving. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
