A cozy and creamy overnight oatmeal recipe that tastes like a cinnamon roll, perfect for easy and comforting mornings with minimal prep.

Ingredients

Scale
  • ½ cup (45g) rolled oats
  • ¾ cup (180ml) milk of choice (whole milk recommended, almond or oat milk for dairy-free)
  • 2 tablespoons softened cream cheese
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar or coconut sugar (optional)

Instructions

  1. Soften the cream cheese by whisking together 2 tablespoons of softened cream cheese and ¾ cup (180ml) of milk until smooth and creamy (about 2 minutes).
  2. Stir in 1 tablespoon maple syrup, 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon, ½ teaspoon vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt until fully combined and aromatic (1-2 minutes).
  3. Add ½ cup (45g) rolled oats and 1 tablespoon chia seeds (if using) into a mason jar or airtight container.
  4. Pour the creamy milk mixture over the oats and stir or shake well to coat evenly (30 seconds).
  5. Seal the jar tightly and refrigerate for at least 6 hours, preferably 8-10 hours, to allow oats to soak and soften.
  6. In the morning, stir the oatmeal and add a splash of milk if too thick. Top with chopped nuts, fresh fruit, or cream cheese glaze as desired before serving.

Notes

Use rolled oats for best texture; avoid instant oats to prevent mushiness. Soften cream cheese before mixing to avoid lumps. Vanilla extract and a pinch of salt enhance flavor. For vegan/dairy-free, substitute cream cheese with dairy-free spread or mashed banana and use plant-based milk. Add toppings fresh to maintain texture.
