A quick and easy recipe for crispy, melty mozzarella sticks cooked from frozen in the air fryer in just 5 minutes. Perfect for a last-minute snack or casual get-together.

Ingredients

  • Frozen mozzarella sticks (good-quality brands like Galbani or Frigo recommended)
  • Cooking spray or light mist of olive oil or avocado oil
  • Optional: Italian seasoning, garlic powder, paprika, red pepper flakes, Cajun seasoning
  • Optional dipping sauces: marinara sauce, ranch dressing, spicy sriracha mayo

Instructions

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) and let it warm up for about 3 minutes.
  2. Take frozen mozzarella sticks directly from the freezer; no thawing needed. Lay them out on a plate or tray.
  3. Lightly spray each stick with cooking oil. Avoid soaking; just a light mist is enough.
  4. Place the sticks in a single layer in the air fryer basket, ensuring they are not touching or overlapping.
  5. Air fry at 400°F (200°C) for 2 minutes, then carefully flip each stick using tongs.
  6. Cook for another 2 minutes until the cheese is melty and the outside is golden and crispy.
  7. If extra crispness is desired, add 1 more minute of cooking time, watching closely to prevent cheese leakage.
  8. Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauces.

Notes

Do not thaw mozzarella sticks before cooking to prevent cheese leakage. Lightly spray oil for extra crispness but avoid soaking. Flip sticks halfway through cooking for even browning. Avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket to ensure even crisping. For reheating leftovers, air fry at 375°F (190°C) for 2-3 minutes. Baking alternative: bake in a convection oven at 425°F (220°C) for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway.
