A quick and easy snack featuring a crispy crust with a gooey mozzarella cheese center infused with garlic butter. Perfect for any occasion and loved by kids and adults alike.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 large loaf crusty French or Italian bread
  • 8 oz fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced or shredded
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
  • 34 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley, finely chopped (optional)
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a small bowl, mix softened butter with minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, and pepper until well combined.
  3. Using a sharp serrated knife, make diagonal cuts along the loaf about 1 inch apart, leaving about 1/2 inch at the bottom so the loaf stays connected.
  4. Gently open each cut slice and spread a generous amount of garlic butter inside each gap.
  5. Stuff slices or shreds of mozzarella into each buttered gap, ensuring cheese peeks out slightly but stays mostly inside.
  6. Brush olive oil lightly over the top crust of the bread.
  7. Sprinkle grated Parmesan evenly over the top.
  8. Place the stuffed loaf on the baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes until cheese is bubbly and crust is golden.
  9. Let the bread cool for 5 minutes before slicing fully and serving.

Notes

Do not slice through the bottom of the loaf to keep it intact. Use room temperature butter for easy spreading. Fresh garlic is preferred for best flavor. Let the bread rest before serving to prevent cheese from oozing out. If cheese isn’t melting evenly, bake a few more minutes while watching closely.
