  • Optional: Black decorating gel for outlining details

Instructions

  1. Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a large saucepan over low heat, melt 3 tablespoons of unsalted butter until completely liquid but not browned.
  3. Add 4 cups of mini marshmallows to the melted butter and stir constantly until fully melted and smooth (5-7 minutes).
  4. Remove from heat and stir in green food coloring gel a few drops at a time until desired color is achieved.
  5. Quickly add 6 cups of Rice Krispies cereal to the marshmallow mixture and stir gently but thoroughly to coat every flake.
  6. Transfer the mixture into the prepared pan and gently press evenly using a buttered spatula or wax paper, avoiding packing too tightly.
  7. Let the treats cool at room temperature for at least 30 minutes until firm enough to cut.
  8. Cut the treats into Frankenstein head shapes using a sharp knife or cookie cutters.
  9. Decorate each treat with candy eyes, black licorice stitches, and black decorating gel if desired.

Melt butter and marshmallows on low heat to avoid burning. Use gel food coloring for vibrant color without extra liquid. Work quickly when shaping as marshmallow mixture hardens fast. Keep spatula or hands buttered or wet to prevent sticking. Store treats in airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or freeze for up to a month.
