A quick and easy pull-apart bread recipe featuring soft dinner rolls coated in a flavorful garlic herb butter, baked to crispy perfection with fresh herbs.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 loaf of soft dinner rolls or pull-apart bread (about 12 rolls; King’s Hawaiian preferred)
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened (European-style butter recommended)
  • 4 cloves garlic, finely minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh rosemary, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt (adjust to taste)
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • Optional: 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • Extra fresh herbs (rosemary or parsley) for sprinkling after baking
  • Optional: Grated Parmesan cheese for a savory finish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine softened butter, minced garlic, chopped rosemary, thyme, parsley, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes if using. Mix until smooth and fragrant.
  3. Cut the loaf of dinner rolls into roughly 1 to 1.5-inch cubes.
  4. Toss the bread cubes in the garlic herb butter mixture, ensuring each piece is generously coated.
  5. Spread the coated bread cubes evenly in a baking dish, leaving some gaps for heat circulation.
  6. Bake for 15-20 minutes, tossing gently halfway through to promote even crisping. Watch for golden brown edges.
  7. Optional: In the last 2 minutes, sprinkle grated Parmesan over the top and return to oven until melted and slightly golden.
  8. Remove from oven, sprinkle with extra fresh herbs, let cool for a few minutes, then serve warm.

Notes

If garlic butter hardens before tossing bread, warm slightly in microwave for 10-15 seconds. Toss bread cubes halfway through baking for even crisping. Fresh herbs provide best flavor; dried herbs can be used at half quantity. Butter can be substituted with vegan margarine or coconut oil for dairy-free version. Prepare garlic herb butter a day ahead to save time.
