These crispy Ninja Foodi French fries are perfectly golden and fluffy, made quickly with simple ingredients and air-fried to perfection for a healthier homemade snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 large russet potatoes (about 2 pounds / 900 grams)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or avocado oil
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt, or to taste
  • ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • Water (for soaking potato slices)

Instructions

  1. Wash and peel the potatoes if desired, then slice into ¼-inch (6 mm) thick sticks, keeping slices uniform for even cooking.
  2. Soak the potato sticks in a large bowl of cold water for 30 minutes to 1 hour to remove excess starch. If short on time, soak for at least 15 minutes.
  3. Drain and pat the potato sticks dry thoroughly with paper towels or a clean kitchen towel.
  4. Preheat the Ninja Foodi to 390°F (200°C) on the air crisp setting for 5 minutes.
  5. Toss the dried potato sticks with 2 tablespoons of oil, sea salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika until evenly coated.
  6. Place the fries in the Ninja Foodi basket in a single layer, avoiding overcrowding. Cook in batches if necessary.
  7. Air crisp the fries for 18-22 minutes, shaking the basket or stirring halfway through to ensure even browning.
  8. Remove fries immediately and sprinkle with extra salt if desired. Serve hot for best crunch.

Notes

Soaking the potato sticks removes excess starch and is key to achieving crispiness. Dry thoroughly before air frying to avoid soggy fries. Avoid overcrowding the basket to ensure even cooking. Lightly spraying fries with oil after tossing can increase crispiness. Adjust cooking time based on potato size and air fryer model. Reheat leftovers in the Ninja Foodi or oven to maintain crispiness; avoid microwaving.
