Fluffy Instant Pot Rice Recipe Easy Perfectly Tender Grains Guide

fluffy instant pot rice recipe - featured image

This recipe delivers perfectly tender, fluffy long-grain white rice using an Instant Pot with minimal fuss. It’s quick, easy, and consistently produces separate, melt-in-your-mouth grains.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup long-grain white rice (about 185 grams)
  • 1 cup water (240 ml)
  • ½ teaspoon salt (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter or oil (optional)

Instructions

  1. Rinse the rice under cold running water for about 30 seconds until water runs clear, then drain well.
  2. Transfer the rinsed rice to the Instant Pot. Add water, salt (if using), and butter or oil (if using).
  3. Secure the Instant Pot lid and set the valve to sealing. Select the Manual or Pressure Cook setting on high pressure for 4 minutes.
  4. Allow the pressure to release naturally for 10 minutes after cooking completes.
  5. Carefully turn the valve to venting to release any remaining pressure, then remove the lid.
  6. Use a fork or rice paddle to gently fluff the rice, separating the grains before serving.

Notes

Rinsing the rice removes excess starch and prevents stickiness. Use natural pressure release to keep rice fluffy. Adjust water and natural release time if rice is too firm or mushy. For larger batches, increase water to about 1.25 cups per cup of rice and adjust cooking time slightly.
