Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (226g) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup (150g) granulated sugar
  • 1 cup (200g) brown sugar
  • 1 cup (120g) all-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup (75g) cocoa powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 4 large eggs, room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups (240g) powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons (30ml) milk or cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Green food coloring
  • Candy eyes
  • Chocolate chips or melted chocolate
  • Licorice strings
  • Small marshmallows

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper and grease it lightly.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth. Add the eggs and vanilla extract, whisking until fully combined.
  3. In a separate bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Gradually fold the dry mixture into the wet ingredients using a spatula. Mix until just combined.
  4. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs. Let the brownies cool completely in the pan.
  5. While the brownies are cooling, make the frosting. In a bowl, combine powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth. Add green food coloring, a little at a time, until you achieve the desired shade of green.
  6. Spread the green frosting evenly over the cooled brownies. Use candy eyes, chocolate chips, and licorice strings to create Frankenstein’s face. Add small marshmallows on the sides to mimic bolts.
  7. Carefully slice the brownies into squares, making sure each piece has a face. Serve and enjoy!
