A quick and easy honey garlic glazed salmon recipe that delivers a perfect balance of sweet, savory, and tangy flavors with a sticky, shiny glaze. Ideal for busy weeknights or special occasions.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 salmon fillets (6 oz / 170 g each), skin-on preferred
  • 1/4 cup (85 g) honey, raw or organic
  • 3 tablespoons (45 ml) soy sauce, low sodium preferred
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) rice vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) olive oil, extra virgin
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • Salt, a pinch or to preference
  • Red pepper flakes, optional, a pinch
  • 2 green onions, thinly sliced for garnish
  • 1 teaspoon toasted sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

  1. Pat the 4 salmon fillets dry with paper towels. Season each fillet with a pinch of salt and freshly ground black pepper on both sides.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together 1/4 cup honey, 3 tablespoons soy sauce, 3 minced garlic cloves, and 1 tablespoon rice vinegar. Taste and adjust balance of sweet, salty, and tangy. Set aside.
  3. Heat 2 tablespoons olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Place salmon fillets skin-side down and cook undisturbed for 4-5 minutes until skin is crispy and golden brown. Flip carefully.
  4. Pour the honey garlic glaze over the salmon fillets in the pan. Reduce heat to medium-low and spoon glaze over salmon as it cooks for another 3-4 minutes until glaze thickens and salmon is opaque and flakes easily.
  5. Remove salmon from pan and spoon any remaining glaze over the top. Garnish with sliced green onions and toasted sesame seeds. Serve immediately while warm.

Notes

Pat salmon dry before cooking for crispy skin and better glaze adherence. Cook skin-side down first without moving for at least 4 minutes to build crust. Keep heat moderate when adding glaze to prevent burning. Add a splash of water if glaze thickens too fast. Use tamari for gluten-free option. Leftovers store up to 2 days refrigerated; reheat gently with splash of water.
