A vibrant and easy-to-make tropical cocktail featuring a balanced blend of light and dark rums, passion fruit, citrus juices, and a hint of sweetness. Perfect for tropical parties and backyard luaus.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 oz light rum (e.g., Bacardi)
  • 1 oz dark rum (e.g., Myers’s)
  • 2 oz passion fruit juice (fresh or bottled)
  • 1 oz fresh lime juice
  • 1 oz orange juice (freshly squeezed or pure juice)
  • 1/2 oz grenadine syrup
  • 1/2 oz simple syrup
  • Ice cubes (for shaking and serving)
  • Garnishes: orange slice, maraschino cherry, or pineapple wedge (optional)

Instructions

  1. Chill your hurricane or highball glass in the freezer for about 10 minutes.
  2. Squeeze fresh lime juice until you get 1 oz and set aside.
  3. In a cocktail shaker, combine 2 oz light rum, 1 oz dark rum, 2 oz passion fruit juice, 1 oz orange juice, 1/2 oz grenadine syrup, 1/2 oz simple syrup, and the fresh lime juice.
  4. Fill the shaker about two-thirds full with ice cubes, secure the lid, and shake vigorously for 15 seconds until well chilled.
  5. Remove the glass from the freezer, fill it with fresh ice, and strain the cocktail over the ice.
  6. Garnish with an orange slice and maraschino cherry or pineapple wedge.

Notes

Use fresh lime juice for best flavor. Shake vigorously to chill and dilute slightly. Avoid overloading the glass with ice to prevent quick dilution. Garnish adds visual appeal and enhances the tropical vibe. For a lighter version, substitute simple syrup with agave nectar or honey syrup. For a mocktail, replace rums with passion fruit soda or sparkling water.
