These bite-sized caramel apple crisp treats combine tart apples, a crunchy cinnamon-spiced topping, and a luscious caramel drizzle for a perfect holiday dessert that’s quick and easy to make.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 medium-sized tart apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), peeled and finely chopped
  • ½ cup caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • ¾ cup all-purpose flour (90g)
  • ½ cup rolled oats (45g)
  • ⅓ cup brown sugar (70g)
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter (85g), softened
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Peel and finely chop 2 medium-sized apples (about 2 cups). Toss them with 1 tablespoon lemon juice to keep them fresh and add a slight tang. Set aside.
  3. In a medium bowl, combine ¾ cup all-purpose flour, ½ cup rolled oats, ⅓ cup brown sugar, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, and ¼ teaspoon nutmeg. Mix well.
  4. Add 6 tablespoons softened unsalted butter to the dry topping mix. Use your fingers, a fork, or a pastry blender to work the butter into the dry ingredients until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  5. In a separate bowl, toss the chopped apples with 1 teaspoon vanilla extract.
  6. If using a mini muffin tin, lightly grease or line it. Place about 1 tablespoon of chopped apples into each cup, pressing down gently. Then sprinkle 1 tablespoon of the crisp topping evenly over the apples.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until the topping is golden brown and the apples are bubbling slightly.
  8. Remove from oven and let cool for 5 minutes. Drizzle with ½ cup caramel sauce (warm it slightly to pour easily).
  9. Optionally, sprinkle a pinch of flaky sea salt on top to balance the sweetness.
  10. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

If topping browns too quickly, tent with foil halfway through baking. Drain excess liquid from apples if watery to maintain crisp texture. Warm caramel sauce before drizzling for smooth application. For gluten-free, substitute all-purpose flour with almond flour. For dairy-free, use vegan butter and dairy-free caramel sauce.
