Warm baked apples with gooey caramel sauce, creamy vanilla ice cream, and crunchy toppings make this the ultimate fall dessert.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large firm apples (Honeycrisp, Granny Smith, or Fuji)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar (light or dark)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Pinch of nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • 4 scoops vanilla ice cream
  • Optional toppings: chopped nuts, crushed graham crackers, whipped cream, chocolate sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Wash and dry the apples. Remove the core using an apple corer, leaving the bottom intact to create a bowl.
  3. Make vertical cuts around the apple, going almost to the bottom but not all the way through to create the blooming effect.
  4. Mix melted butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a small bowl to form a thick paste.
  5. Spoon the butter-sugar mixture into the center of each apple, letting it drip into the blooming cuts.
  6. Place the apples in a baking dish and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until tender and blooming.
  7. Heat the caramel sauce in the microwave or stovetop until smooth and pourable.
  8. Place each baked apple in a bowl, drizzle with caramel sauce, add a scoop of vanilla ice cream, and sprinkle with desired toppings.
  9. Serve immediately.

Notes

Choose firm apples like Honeycrisp for best results. Don’t skip the blooming cuts for even baking and presentation. Serve immediately for the best texture and flavor.
