  • 16 oz potato gnocchi
  • 2 cups tomato sauce (good-quality marinara or homemade)
  • 8 oz fresh mozzarella, sliced or shredded
  • 1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Fresh basil leaves, torn
  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the gnocchi according to package instructions (usually 2-3 minutes). Remove with a slotted spoon once they float to the surface and set aside.
  3. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Pour in your tomato sauce, stir, and let it simmer for 5-10 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Add the cooked gnocchi to the skillet with the tomato sauce. Gently toss to coat each piece evenly.
  5. Transfer the gnocchi and sauce mixture to your baking dish. Spread it out evenly.
  6. Layer the mozzarella slices (or shredded mozzarella) on top of the gnocchi. Sprinkle a generous amount of freshly grated Parmesan over the mozzarella.
  7. Place the baking dish in the preheated oven. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden-brown.
  8. Remove the dish from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Sprinkle fresh basil leaves on top for a burst of flavor and color.
  9. Serve piping hot and enjoy!
