Irresistible Salted Caramel Rice Krispie Treats

These gooey, buttery salted caramel Rice Krispie treats are the perfect balance of sweet and salty, quick to make, and ideal for any occasion.

  • 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
  • 10 oz mini marshmallows
  • ½ cup unsalted butter
  • ½ cup caramel sauce
  • ½ teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Melt the butter: In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt ½ cup (115g) of unsalted butter. Stir occasionally to prevent browning.
  2. Add the marshmallows: Once the butter is melted, add 10 oz (283g) of mini marshmallows. Stir constantly until fully melted and smooth.
  3. Incorporate the caramel sauce: Stir in ½ cup (120ml) of caramel sauce and 1 teaspoon (5ml) of vanilla extract. Mix until well combined and the mixture is glossy.
  4. Add the cereal: Remove the saucepan from heat and fold in 6 cups (160g) of Rice Krispies cereal. Mix gently but thoroughly to coat every piece.
  5. Press into the pan: Transfer the mixture to a parchment-lined 9×13-inch baking dish. Use a lightly greased spatula or the back of a spoon to press evenly.
  6. Sprinkle with sea salt: Sprinkle ½ teaspoon of sea salt over the top for that signature salty-sweet contrast.
  7. Cool and slice: Let the treats set at room temperature for 30 minutes. Once firm, cut into squares and serve.

Notes

Use fresh marshmallows for the best texture. Work quickly to mix and press the treats before the mixture sets. Adjust the sea salt to your preference.
