An easy and elegant DIY gift idea featuring fresh strawberries dipped in smooth, high-quality chocolate and arranged on skewers like a bouquet. Perfect for last-minute gifts or a charming dessert.

Ingredients

  • Fresh strawberries (medium to large size, firm and ripe)
  • High-quality semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips or bars (e.g., Ghirardelli or Valrhona)
  • White chocolate (optional, for drizzling or decoration)
  • Bamboo skewers or wooden sticks (6-8 inches long)
  • Optional toppings: crushed nuts, sprinkles, shredded coconut

Instructions

  1. Wash and dry the strawberries thoroughly with paper towels; ensure they are completely dry.
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
  3. Insert wooden skewers gently into the green stem end of each strawberry about halfway through, being careful not to push all the way through.
  4. Melt the chocolate slowly using a double boiler or microwave in 20-second bursts, stirring frequently until smooth and glossy.
  5. Hold each strawberry by the skewer and dip into the melted chocolate, swirling to coat evenly. Lift and let excess chocolate drip off.
  6. For a thicker chocolate shell, dip strawberries twice, allowing the first layer to set briefly.
  7. Before the chocolate sets, sprinkle optional toppings like crushed nuts, coconut, or sprinkles if desired.
  8. Place dipped strawberries on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them to avoid sticking.
  9. Let the chocolate set at room temperature or refrigerate for 15-20 minutes until hardened.
  10. Arrange the skewers like a bouquet in a vase or wrap with tissue paper for presentation.

Notes

Avoid any water contact when melting chocolate to prevent seizing. Pat strawberries dry thoroughly for best chocolate adhesion. Double dipping creates a sturdier chocolate shell. Use a gentle heat and stir frequently when melting chocolate. If chocolate thickens or seizes, rewarm gently with a small amount of vegetable oil or cocoa butter. Store bouquet loosely covered in the fridge for up to 2 days. Let sit at room temperature 10-15 minutes before serving to soften chocolate slightly.
