A quick and easy frozen strawberry margarita recipe perfect for summer sipping, combining tart lime, sweet strawberries, and smooth tequila for a refreshing icy cocktail.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ounces (60 ml) tequila blanco
  • 1 cup (140 g) frozen strawberries
  • 1 ounce (30 ml) fresh lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) agave syrup
  • 1 ounce (30 ml) triple sec or orange liqueur (optional)
  • 1 to 1 ½ cups (240360 ml) ice cubes
  • Coarse kosher salt or sea salt for rimming glasses (optional)
  • Lime wedges and fresh strawberries for garnish

Instructions

  1. Pour some coarse salt onto a small plate. Rub a lime wedge around the rim of each glass to moisten it, then dip the rims into the salt so they’re nicely coated. Set aside.
  2. Squeeze about 1 ounce (30 ml) of fresh lime juice — roughly one large lime. Adjust to taste if you prefer more tartness.
  3. Combine 2 ounces (60 ml) tequila blanco, 1 cup (140 g) frozen strawberries, 1 ounce (30 ml) fresh lime juice, 1 tablespoon (15 ml) agave syrup, and 1 ounce (30 ml) triple sec into the blender.
  4. Add 1 to 1 ½ cups (240-360 ml) of ice cubes depending on your preferred slush thickness.
  5. Pulse on high for about 30 to 45 seconds until smooth and creamy. If too thick, add a splash of water or fresh lime juice; if too thin, add more ice cubes.
  6. Taste and adjust sweetness or tartness by adding more agave syrup or lime juice as desired. Blend briefly if you add anything.
  7. Pour the frozen strawberry margarita into the prepared glasses. Garnish with a fresh strawberry on the rim and a lime wedge.

Notes

Use frozen strawberries for a thicker, slushier texture that lasts longer before melting. Fresh lime juice is preferred over bottled for best flavor. If blender struggles with ice, let ice cubes sit out briefly or crush separately. Adjust sweetness gradually to avoid overly sweet drinks. Salt rim enhances flavor contrast. Can substitute triple sec with gluten-free orange liqueur or omit for lower sugar. Store leftover mix (without ice) in fridge up to 24 hours; blend with fresh ice before serving again.
