A quick and easy Southern-style peach iced tea that combines ripe peaches with black tea for a refreshing summer drink. Perfect for gatherings or a simple daily refreshment.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 45 black tea bags
  • 2 large fresh ripe peaches, sliced
  • ¼ to ½ cup granulated sugar (or honey/agave syrup to taste)
  • 6 cups fresh filtered water
  • 2 tablespoons fresh squeezed lemon juice
  • Ice cubes for serving
  • Optional: a handful of fresh mint leaves
  • Optional: peach slices for garnish

Instructions

  1. Bring 6 cups (1.4 liters) of fresh water to a rolling boil in a saucepan or kettle (about 5 minutes).
  2. Pour boiling water into a large heatproof pitcher. Add 4-5 black tea bags and steep for 5-7 minutes, depending on desired strength.
  3. While tea is hot, stir in ¼ to ½ cup granulated sugar until dissolved. If using honey, add after tea cools slightly.
  4. Wash and slice 2 large ripe peaches, leaving skin on if desired.
  5. Remove tea bags and stir in 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice. Add sliced peaches to warm tea to infuse sweetness.
  6. Let tea cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 1 hour to chill and meld flavors.
  7. Serve over ice cubes, garnished with fresh peach slices and mint leaves if desired.

Notes

Do not over-steep tea to avoid bitterness; steep 5-7 minutes. Use ripe peaches for best flavor. Adjust sweetness to taste. Chill tea well before serving. Optionally strain tea before chilling for a clearer drink. Stir occasionally while chilling to infuse peach flavor evenly.
