Spooky Marshmallow Rice Krispies Halloween Brains Treats

Halloween Brains Treats - featured image

A spooky, brain-like treat made with Rice Krispies and marshmallows, perfect for Halloween parties and fun family activities.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
  • 10-ounce bag of mini marshmallows or about 40 regular-sized marshmallows
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • Red food coloring, a few drops
  • Pink gel food coloring, a few drops
  • Cooking spray or butter for greasing hands
  • Optional decorations: gummy worms, candy eyeballs, or strawberry jam

Instructions

  1. Prepare your workspace by laying out a large baking sheet lined with parchment paper and greasing your hands with butter or cooking spray.
  2. In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the marshmallows and butter. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring each time, until fully melted and smooth (about 2-3 minutes).
  3. Stir in a few drops of red food coloring and pink gel food coloring to achieve a brain-like hue. Adjust the amount until satisfied with the color.
  4. Gradually fold the Rice Krispies cereal into the melted marshmallow mixture. Stir until the cereal is evenly coated and sticky.
  5. With greased hands, take small handfuls of the mixture and shape them into oval or brain-like forms. Use fingers to create grooves and ridges for a realistic look.
  6. If desired, drizzle strawberry jam over the brains for a ‘bloody’ effect or add gummy worms peeking out for extra creepiness.
  7. Place the shaped brains onto the prepared baking sheet and let them cool for 15-20 minutes until firm.

Notes

[‘Don’t overheat the marshmallows to avoid hardening.’, ‘Work quickly as the mixture sets fast.’, ‘Grease your hands generously to prevent sticking.’, ‘Use a toothpick to create deeper grooves for a realistic look.’, ‘Customize with gummy worms, candy eyeballs, or strawberry jam for extra creepiness.’]
