These Spooky Mummy Mozzarella Sticks are a fun and festive Halloween treat with gooey cheese, crispy golden crust, and an adorably creepy mummy design.

  • Mozzarella cheese sticks (string cheese or pre-packaged mozzarella sticks)
  • 1 can refrigerated crescent roll dough or puff pastry
  • 1 large egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Edible candy eyes
  • Marinara sauce for dipping
  • Optional: Garlic powder or Italian seasoning for extra flavor

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Unroll the crescent roll dough onto a clean surface and pinch the perforated seams to create one large sheet of dough.
  3. Using a pizza cutter or sharp knife, slice thin strips (about ¼ inch wide) to create mummy bandages.
  4. Take one mozzarella stick and wrap it with the dough strips, leaving small gaps to mimic a mummy’s appearance. Leave a small space for the eyes.
  5. Arrange the wrapped mozzarella sticks on the prepared baking sheet, leaving enough space between each stick.
  6. Whisk the egg in a small bowl and use a pastry brush to lightly coat the dough for a golden, crispy finish.
  7. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown.
  8. Remove the mozzarella sticks from the oven and let them cool for 2-3 minutes. Gently press edible candy eyes into the exposed areas of the cheese.
  9. Serve warm with marinara sauce for dipping.

Notes

Keep the mozzarella sticks cold before wrapping for easier handling. Avoid overlapping the dough strips too much for even baking. Add candy eyes after baking to prevent melting.
