A foolproof slow cooker turkey breast recipe that delivers juicy, flavorful, and tender turkey with minimal effort. Perfect for busy families and special occasions.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 34 lbs boneless, skin-on turkey breast
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon dried rosemary, crushed
  • 1½ teaspoons salt
  • ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 cup low-sodium chicken broth or water
  • Optional: 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Pat the turkey breast dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
  2. In a small bowl, combine garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, dried thyme, crushed rosemary, salt, and black pepper.
  3. Rub the turkey breast all over with olive oil, then evenly coat with the seasoning mix, covering both sides and the skin.
  4. Optional: Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and sear the turkey breast skin-side down for 3-4 minutes until golden brown. Flip and sear the other side for 2-3 minutes.
  5. Place the seared turkey breast in the slow cooker. Pour the chicken broth (and lemon juice if using) around the turkey, avoiding pouring directly on top to not wash off seasoning.
  6. Cover and cook on low for 4-5 hours or on high for 2-3 hours. Use a meat thermometer to check for an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C). Avoid lifting the lid too often.
  7. Once cooked, turn off the slow cooker but leave the turkey inside for another 15-20 minutes to rest and redistribute juices.
  8. Remove the turkey breast carefully with tongs, slice against the grain, and serve.

Notes

Searing the turkey breast before slow cooking is optional but highly recommended for a flavorful crust. Use a meat thermometer to ensure the turkey reaches 165°F (74°C). Let the turkey rest in the slow cooker after cooking to keep it juicy. Avoid lifting the lid frequently to maintain steady cooking temperature. Keep broth in the pot to create steam and prevent drying out. You can add vegetables like carrots, potatoes, or onions at the bottom of the slow cooker for a full meal.
